UP cabinet has given its nod to a ‘political training institute’ in Ghaziabad to impart nuances of the profession to budding politicians, The New Indian Express has reported.

The UP assembly has witnessed many instances of breach of decorum by public representatives. Not only in the assembly. but the unruly behaviour of the MLAs across party lines, can be seen in public too. The newly acquired stature of being an MLA apparently emboldens these public representatives.

Keeping this kind of behaviour in mind, UP cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath passed a resolution on Wednesday (10 October) to have India’s first school for politicians to train them for contesting and winning elections, public behaviour with workers, behaviour in constituency, social media etiquette and behaviour in their institutions from Panchayat to Parliament.

There would neither be an examination nor any certificate or degree in the institute, but only training and shaping of politicians by professionals from various fields.

Urban Development department of UP will develop the institute in Ghaziabad on four hectares of land at the cost of Rs 200 crore.

"The institute will have 180 one BHK sets for the male politicians and 80 for female ones," said Urban Development minister Suresh Khanna.
