Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Deputy Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, tweeted on Friday (22 October) that the police will be investigating former CM Captain Amarinder Singh's Pakistani friend Aroosa Alam and her links with the ISI.
Randhawa, a senior Congress leader in the state, had tweeted earlier in Punjabi confirming that "orders to probe alleged connection of Aroosa Alam with Pakistani spy agency ISI have been issued". However, he later deleted this tweet.
He even asked the Director-General of Police (DGP) to investigate the reports of drones that came from Pakistan during Captain Singh's tenure as the CM, Indian Express reports.
Captain then hit back, saying that Randhawa never complained about Aroosa when both of them were cabinet colleagues. He even clarified that his Pakistani friend has been visiting India for about the last 16 years with due clearances from the Government of India (GoI).
"Instead of focusing on maintaining law & order at a time when terror threat is high and festivals are around the corner, you've put @DGPPunjabPolice on a baseless investigation at the cost of Punjab's safety," the former CM hit back at the current deputy CM through the Twitter.
