An All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) corporator was assaulted in the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation premises on Friday (17 August) after he opposed a condolence proposal tabled in the assembly to condole the death of former Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indian Express has reported.
This allegedly infuriated a few BJP corporators who proceeded to beat him up. A video of the incident was posted by ANI.
Eventually, the corporator was escorted out of the premises by police officials. Reports claim that AIMIM decided to retaliate after the attack and damaged the car of a BJP leader and assaulted his driver.
Rashid was taken into custody from a government hospital where he was being treated for injuries suffered in the assault. The Aurangabad civic boy which is run by BJP and Shiv Sena passed a resolution cancelling Rashid’s membership.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
