Author and scientist Anand Ranganathan who is a regular participant in television debates, on Monday (6 January) launched a scathing attack against the JNU protesters, most of whom are said to belong to the left wing ideology.

While putting forth his views on the JNU incident, Ranganathan said that the only irrefutable fact he knows is that the JNU students who want to make something of their lives other than “live off the pennies thrown in the piss pot by the politicians” are the ones suffering today due to the protests and disruptions.

He added that there are enough claims and counter-claims which fail to buttress the accusations made by any party.

He then proceeded to list out the real facts of the matter, “The protesting students have been collecting within the main building against the High Court order, but it is not fascism. Most JNU centres remain forcibly closed to professors, but it is not fascism. The admin block and Vivekananda statue have been brutally vandalised but it is not fascism”.

“Protesting students are threatening students to not take exam, physically preventing new students from registering but it is not fascism, they have cut off Wifi in campus by vandalising the server room but it is not fascism. For these students the right to protest is the right to prevent and they call others fascists”.

Ranganathan concluded his argument by quoting the mentor of these protesters Joseph Goebbels who famously said, “the first rule of propaganda is you accuse others of what you are guilty of”.
