Eva Bartlett at the United Nations.
An independent Canadian journalist named Eva Bartlett, who travelled to Syria and Lebanon to interact with people affected by the ongoing conflict, exposed the agenda of the pro-establishment corporate media in the United States and Europe at a summit organised by the United Nations.
Talking about the agenda of the corporate media, she said it is aligned with the agenda of western governments, i.e. regime change in Syria.
About democracy, she said that the high turnout (about 74 per cent) in 2014 elections in Syria reinforced Bashar al-Assad’s legitimacy and people’s support for him. Based on her travel, she said that people of all faith and all walks of live, although they want change in government, do not see Assad as the problem.
In the same interview, she also stated that news organisations such as the New York Times and the BBC were exposed to the reality of the situation in Syria yet absolutely refused to report what they saw unfolding.
Ever since she spoke about the western media’s agenda, Bartlett has climbed up their hit list. She, just like Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, has been maligned as a “Russian agent,” a “Syrian agent,” and as “Assad’s puppet”.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
