Troop insertion exercise along the LAC in eastern Ladakh.
India has conducted a troop insertion exercise along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, where the India Army has been locked in a tense military standoff with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China since May last month, India Today has reported.
Indian Army troops were airdropped from C-130J transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force in an area located at 14,000 feet.
The troop insertion drill was part of a larger airborne exercise in eastern Ladakh. The exercise was carried out on Monday (1 November) to test the rapid response capabilities of the Indian forces deployed in the region. Shatrujeet airborne brigade of the Indian Army participated in the three-day high-altitude exercise at an altitude of more than 14,000 feet.
“Acclimatised troops, along with specialist vehicles and missile detachments, were transported (to the exercise area) via US-origin C-130J special operations aircraft and Soviet-origin AN-32 medium transport planes from five different mounting bases to validate inter-theatre move, precision drops and capture of designated objectives,” a report in the Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying.
