Amid protest continuing in Shaheen Bagh and numerous agitations witnessed in the last months against the Citizenship Act, a new video is gaining traction on social media displaying the plight of Pakistani Hindu and Sikhs.
The video begins by showcasing the heartfelt testimony of a Pakistani Hindu saying, “We are also Pakistani, our rights our respect and our dignity should be supported by all of Pakistan.” The video then quotes a EU Parliament report, saying that ‘Three Hindu/Sikh girls are abducted, raped and converted to Islam in Pakistan everyday’.
The video is made by Dr Omendra Ratnu, who can be seen dedicating a song trying to capture the pain and plight of the Pakistani minorities.
Only a fortnight ago, Ministry of External Affairs had summoned a senior official of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, to lodge strong protest and share serious concerns about the recent cases of abduction of minor girls belonging to the minority Hindu community of Pakistan.
Through the video, Dr Ratnu has tried to raise up the issue by amalgamating various testimonies and clips where people have spoken about the treatment meted to them in Pakistan.
In one such clip, a man can be heard saying, “This is how we are asked to drink water in Pakistan, with our head bowed. Don’t we too have rights there? Why are we called Kafirs? Why are we treated like second-class citizen in Pakistan? Just because we are Hindus? But the reality is that Hindus are oppressed community there.”
The video brings out the stories of various girls who were abducted or killed, such as Mehak Keswani, Rinkle Kumar, Pooja etc.
Through the video, Dr Ratnu tries to bring out the point that the Citizenship Amendment Act is a boon for minorities in Pakistan who long to escape the country and move to India.
It should be noted that, Dr Omendra Ratnu is a successful ENT specialist based in Jaipur, who has dedicated his life to work for the cause of rehabilitation of Hindus and Sikhs from Pakistan.
He has started an NGO called Nimittekam which works to ease the pain of our forgotten Hindu and Sikh brothers across the borders of this subcontinent who are living lives of extreme hardships and humiliation just for being Hindus and Sikhs.
The organisation, also works for Dalit Sahodaras (brothers) to ensure their mingling into the mainstream of the nation.
