Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader G Parameshwara, earlier today (5 September), went on inspection rounds with his team where he looked into leaking stormwater drains.
He was accompanied by BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad and Mayor of Bengaluru Sampath Raj.
Incidentally, while he was on the inspection, one of his gunmen was seen dusting his pants, a video of which has since then gone viral on social media.
As reported by Times of India, despite being slammed for the incident, Parameshwara clarified that it does not count as an abuse of power since he saw his team as an ‘extended family’.
“I work with my team day in & day out and consider them as my extended family. They’re my strength & am hurt by all the talk of my abuse of power to ill-treat them. The help extended to me was spontaneous. It should not be blown out of proportion”. the Deputy Chief Minister was quoted as saying.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
