As part of Elon Musk’s plan to create a network called starlink of up to 12,000 satellites in the earth’s orbit to provide high-speed and low cost internet on Earth, SpaceX has successfully launched an initial batch of 60 satellites using a Falcon-9 rocket from Florida’s Cape Canaveral launch facility, reports BBC.

Watch the footage below:

SpaceX has confirmed that around an hour into the flight, all the satellites were successfully released and deployed. The booster of the spacecraft landed back safely to the Earth and is re-usable for another flight.

But SpaceX is not alone in its bid to create a massive network in orbit beaming back high speed internet; UK-based firm OneWeb also plans to launch its own network along the same lines from February 2020.

Jeff Bezos-led Amazon plans to create a 3,200 satellite network as part of its ‘Project Kuiper’.
