Addressing a press conference after announcing his decision to dissolve the state assembly, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao called Congress President Rahul Gandhi the “biggest buffoon” of the country.

“Everyone knows what Rahul Gandhi is…the biggest buffoon in the country. The whole country has seen how he went and hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament and winked,” Rao said, according to ANI.

At the same press conference, Rao said that his party has prepared a list of candidates for the election and announced 105 names. The chief minister also dismissed rumours of an alliance with the BJP for 2019.

Earlier in the day, Rao had paved way for the state to have early elections by formally announcing his decision to dissolve the state assembly. He had also informed Governor ESL Narasimhan about his decision.

The election in Telangana, which was due in May 2019, is likely to be clubbed with the polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram.

Earlier, Rao had left everyone guessing on whether he would opt for early polls. But during his mega rally earlier this week, he dropped enough hints of what was coming. The TRS chief had said that he would soon set up a committee to come up with a manifesto for the election and had mentioned that his cabinet had authorised him to take a call on dissolving the assembly.

After the dissolution of the assembly, Rao is set to launch his campaign with a mega rally in Husnabad, the place from where he launched it in 2014.
