A mechanic from Tripura named Partha Saha has built a social-distancing motorbike which he plans to use to drop his young daughter to school whenever lockdown lifts and normalcy resumes, The Hindu has reported.

Here is a video of the bike as reported by APF.

The bike which runs on battery power contains a distance of 1 metre between the biker and his or her pillon rider to ensure proper social distancing.

Saha brought an old bike from a scrap dealer, removed the engine and cut it into two parts. He subsequently attached a rod to hold the two parts together.

The bike has a top speed of 40 kmph and can travel 80 kilometre in a single charge. It can be recharged at a nominal cost of Rs 10.

Saha feels that it may not be safe for his daughter to go to school on a bus in the near future, which inspired him to come up with this innovation.
