Democratic Congresswoman and the first Hindu-American contender for the country’s presidential elections, Tulsi Gabbard, has released a video welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his fresh visit to the country, in which he is scheduled to participate in a massive event called ‘Howdy, Modi!’ at Houston, Texas with thousands of members of the Indian-American community.
In the video, Gabbard apologises for not having the time in her schedule to attend Modi’s Houston event, as she has pre-existing campaign commitments. Nonetheless, she expresses hope that India and the US will come closer and increase cooperation in a number of fields, including climate change, economy, technology, security among others.
She also highlights the ancient Hindu idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning “the world is one family”, while speaking about the need to respect each other’s cultures, ethnicties, religions and other differences.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
