In a positive development, India recorded less than one lakh new COVID-19 cases in the past week, a first since the week 14-21 June of last year, reports Times of India.
From 18-24 January, India recorded a total of 96,025 new COVID-19 cases which is the lowest since 93,801 cases were reported in 14-21 June week last year, which was the last time when the country reported weekly cases below one lakh-mark.
Furthermore, it should also be noted that the current week witnessed an 8.7 per cent drop in new cases since the previous seven days, with COVID-19 deaths dropping by 16.4 per cent over the same time. Also, the current week marks the eleventh continuous week of declining COVID-19 cases nationwide.
Meanwhile, On Monday (25 January), India reported a total of 13,203 fresh cases, lower from the 13,266 tally recorded the day before.
