Relations between the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool government of West Bengal and the state’s Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar seem to have hit a new low, with the former rejecting his request for a chopper to travel to Murshidabad from Kolkata, reports Hindustan Times.

The governor will now be forced to make the the trip on road, a journey of around 600 kilometres. He has been invited to be the chief guest for the silver jubilee event of Prof Syed Nurul Hasan College in Murshidabad, and he will be making the journey along with his wife.

The Trinamool government and the governor have been at loggerheads since his appointment, as the former accused him of “acting like a political person”. Governor Dhankar has responded that his visits across the state to meet with local officials were causing discomfort because some persons wanted to conceal the truth.
