In an exam paper set by the Akna Union High School in Hooghly district in Kolkata , Class 10 students were asked to write about how the 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan was disrupting society, reports News18.

The aforementioned school in a Bengali subject examination held on 5 August asked the students to write a newspaper report on 'harmful effects on the society of chanting Jai Shri Ram' or 'bold step of the government to stop corruption by returning cut money.'

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in the state took up the matter and lashed out at the school authorities while accusing them of turning the school into the mouthpiece of the state government led by Mamata Banerjee's All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC).

The president of the BJP's Hooghly district organisational unit, Subir Nag reacted to the development and said, "They accuse us of saffronising education, but now the people of the state should see what they are doing. The teachers have become slaves of the ruling party. I don’t have words strong enough to condemn it."
