Surveillance system
The Western Railways Zone inaugurated the Infrared Intruder Alarm System at the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Zonal Armoury in Mahalaxmi recently as part of its effort to strengthen security at the railway premises.
The Western Zone also initiated the first flight of surveillance drones at the Railway Sports Ground in Mahalaxmi.
The RPF department of the zone maintains that the national transporter will get an added advantage to control and thereby combat issues faced by the Mumbai suburban section.
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) based intruder alarms systems works on seven infrared based CCTV camera feeds, which ensures a holistic 360 degree coverage of the concerned facility.
This will allow for the feeds to be analysed on a real-time basis so that any sort of human presence in the area could be detected.
The system is set to bring about foolproof security in the area through quick response time and 24-hours coverage that will have night-vision capability.
On the other hand, the surveillance drones will be keeping a bird’s eye watch on railway’s assets as well as assist in disaster and crowd management.
They will also be put into use for real-time monitoring of crowded areas and sensitive crime prone locations amongst other places.
Certain RPF officials from the division have also been adequately trained to pilot these drones, which are also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), Financial Express reports.
