The Tata group plans to set up a steel plant in Gadchiroli district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, said Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, as Business Standard reported.
Gadkari announced while addressing the Indo-French Conclave, "With its (Gadchiroli) iron ore and other mineral deposits, there is tremendous potential for the industry," he said.
He also informed the gathering about the huge potential of the Vidarbha region for trade and industry.
Vidarbha is situated in the eastern region of Maharashtra, comprising of Nagpur Division and Amravati Division. The conclave saw him talk about plans for the region.
The Government of Maharashtra had on 28 April cleared the decks for the construction of a greenfield airport in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra at Chandrapur.
