A US District Judge has ordered adult performer Stormy Daniels, who had pursued a defamation suit against US President Donald Trump, to cough up his legal fees, two months after the same judge had dismissed her case, reports Deccan Chronicle.

Daniels, whose actual name is Stephanie Clifford, had accused Trump of defaming her when he tweeted comments ridiculing her claims of having been threatened by a man to keep quiet about her supposed affair with Trump.

After Judge James Otero had thrown out Daniels’ defamation suit in October, Trump’s attorneys had demanded that Daniels reimburse the president for legal expenses to the tune of US$ 340,000. The judge directed her to pay about 75 per cent of the claimed amount plus another US$ 1,000 in sanctions, a total sum of US$ 294,000, after noting 'excessive’ time which Trump’s lawyers had to spend defending against the suit.

Daniels has been involved in a legal tussle seeking to invalidate the US$ 130,000 non-disclosure agreement which she had signed just a few days before the 2016 presidential election, claiming that Trump had not personally signed it.

She had first come in the media limelight after she came out with a story claiming to have had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006- an allegation which Trump has continued to deny.
