One of the consistently taunting issues in Indian public transportation is that of passengers occupying seats reserved for women, persons with disabilities and senior citizens. In order to tackle this issue, Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) and Larsen and Toubro (L&T) have given warnings to those passengers who violate the rule. A fine of Rs 500 can be applied to an individual who breaks the law.

The Hindu reported that at a joint meeting between the two organisations on Monday (22 October), they came with a few resolutions to address this issue, for which several complaints have been raised so far by passengers now. A security personnel will be deployed in every metro coach and police have been instructed to remain vigil.

Hyderabad Metro is planning to keep its stations clean and green. Hence, saplings will be planted soon.
