The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in a statement claimed that it had no involvement in Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination.
The letter from LTTE was signed by a Political Wing representative Kurburan Guruswami and Legal Wing representative Lathan Chandralingam, as reported by New Indian Express.
In the letter, LTTE claims to be "by the people, for the people and of the people of Tamil Eelam," and said that it has demonstrated that it was not involved in any way with the murder of Rajiv Gandhi.
Further, it added that LTTE never intended to turn against India and has never pointed guns towards any person or leader who was not a part of Sri Lanka. It specified how it had never planned to attack a non-Sri Lankan leader or any national leader of India.
The group also claimed that the pre-planned murder of Rajiv Gandhi is a conspiracy with the purpose of destroying the relationship between LTTE and the Indian Government.
LTTE further stated that it seeks for an end of the allegation and hopes to put an end to the notoriety on LTTE on an international platform in the hope that the ban on them will be lifted.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
