Incumbent BJP MP from Muzaffarnagar Sanjeev Balyan who is locked in a tight fight with RLD chief Ajit Singh has complained about women officers not being present at polling booths to check the faces of women voters wearing veils, Hindi News18 has reported.

Balyan was quoted complaining that faces of voters were not being checked properly. He thus questioned as to how can one prevent burkha wearing voters from not voting multiple times.

He further alleged that not even a single woman constable was on duty in 25-26 polling booths of a particular village and blasted election officials for giving excuses over not having the required personnel to check the faces of burkha clad women.

He added that if some voter has objections over not showing their face based on religious beliefs then they should skip from voting. He also alleged that some women entering the booths were being allowed to cast their votes without signing on the polling document.
