Signalling the government’s seriousness on the issue, Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the government will ensure that all illegal immigrants are deported from the country, ANI has reported.
"We will identify all the illegal immigrants and infiltrators living on every inch of this country and deport them as per the international law," Amit Shah said in the Rajya Sabha.
The Home Minister also informed that additional infrastructure and security forces have been deployed to the borders to check illegal immigrants. However, some are still able to cross over to India due to the difficult to monitor terrain along the borders.
Illegal immigrants are dealt by the Central government under Section 3 of the The Foreigners Act, 1946 which gives the Centre the power to detain and deport such persons.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
