‘Will Not Spare A Single Person Involved In Delhi Riots’: Amit Shah Questions Selectivity Over Defining ‘Hate Speech’

Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday evening (11 March) gave a reply to the discussion over the Delhi riots in the Lok Sabha and assured that the Narendra Modi led central government will not spare anyone from either side, who was responsible for Delhi riots.

Shah at the start of his expressed his condolences over the death of all those who perished in the riots and also commended the Delhi police for ensuring that the riots remained contained in parts of Northeast Delhi.

Shah informed the house that no rioting incidents were reported post 25 February. Shah added that he personally requested National security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval to go on the ground and boost the morale of the police forces.

A total of 700 FIRs have been registered in connection with the riots and added that around 300 rioters had come from Uttar Pradesh. Shah informed that the Delhi police is using its in-house facial recognition software to identify rioters based on government data.

He also attacked the Congress party over its leaders making speeches like Aar Par Ki Ladai, Kayar hote hain jo sadkon par nahin likalte. He also took on the speeches reportedly made by Umar Khalid and Waris Pathan and questioned whether these speeches were not provocative.

“Ek badi party ki rally hui, 'Ghar ke bahar niklo', 'Yeh aar paar ki ladai hai' kaha gaya, yeh hate speech nahi lagti aapko? (One big party held a rally. Get out of your houses...do these not look like hate speeches to you", said Shah.

He also said that it is not possible for such riots to break out in the absence of a well-planned conspiracy and the cops are currently probing this angle. A total of three individuals have been arrested in connection with financing angle.
