Will Reduce Road Accidents And Resultant Deaths In India By 50 Per Cent By 2025: Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari has assured that road accidents and subsequent deaths in the country will be cut down by at least 50 per cent by 2025.
Meanwhile, the minister also appreciated the state of Tamil Nadu for already achieving this objective whilst speaking post the inauguration of a webinar series at an International Virtual Symposium on Vehicle Crash Safety.
“The target is to reduce road accidents by 50 percent before 2025 and we can achieve zero deaths due to road accidents by 2030,” Gadkari was quoted in a press release, as reported by Firstpost.
Last year, his ministry participated in a conference in Sweden where a vision to ensure zero road fatalities in India by 2030 was conceived.
In that context, Gadkari proclaimed about Tamil Nadu’s ‘success story’, mentioning that the southern state had reduced accidents and deaths by a remarkable 53 per cent.
Furthermore, the senior minister explained that his ministry also intends to roll out safer roads through construction of highways having around 4-16 lanes.
Gadkari also said that vehicle manufacturers will also be encouraged to discharge newer technologies for greater safety purposes for the realization of this objective.
