With 19,148 New Cases, India's Covid-19 Tally Crosses 6 Lakh Mark; Death Toll Rises To 17,834

With a spike of 19,148 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 6,04,641, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Thursday (2 July).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 2,26,947 are active cases while at least 3,59,860 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from Wednesday's 17,400 to 17,834, an increase of 434 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 180,298 cases, including 8,053 fatalities, and 93,154 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 94,049 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 89,000-mark with as many as 89,802 cases recorded so far, third-highest tally in the country. Gujarat has reported 33,232 cases so far.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (2,803), Gujarat (1,867), Tamil Nadu (1,264), Uttar Pradesh (718), West Bengal (683), and Madhya Pradesh (581).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Uttar Pradesh (24,056), West Bengal (19,170), Rajasthan (18,312), Telangana (17,357), Karnataka (16,514), Andhra Pradesh (15,252), Haryana (14,941), Madhya Pradesh (13,861) and Bihar (10,249).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Assam (8,582), Jammu and Kashmir (7,695), Odisha (7,316), Punjab (5,668), Kerala (4,593), Uttarakhand (2,947), Chhattisgarh (2,940) and Jharkhand (2,521).

According to the Health Ministry, 6,832 cases are being re-assigned to states.
