A global internet shutdown is likely in next 48 hours according to a statement issued by Communication Regulatory Authority (CRA), ANI has reported. Maintenance of key servers around the world is being stated as the reason for the shutdown. The maintenance work will be done by International Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
Russia Today has reported that users may face network connection issues during the maintenance period. ICANN will carry out the maintenance work by changing the Domain Network System (DNS), or the cryptographic key that protects the internet’s address book.
The exercise however, has been deemed necessary due to the rising threat of cyber-attacks around the world.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
