With Over 9.28 Lakh Samples Tested On Friday, Covid-19 Tests In India Cross 4 Crore Mark

With over 9.28 lakh Covid-19 tests conducted on Friday (28 August), more than 4 crore crore samples have been tested across the country for the disease so far, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data has revealed.
At present, a total of 1,576 laboratories have been conducting the Covid-19 tests across the country. Of these, 1,002 are government while 574 are private laboratories.
As many as 9,28,761 samples were tested for Covid-19 on 28 August, the ICMR said.
"The total number of COVID-19 samples tested up to 28 August is 4,04,06,609 including 9,28,761 samples tested on Friday," said the ICMR in a bulletin shared on Twitter on Saturday (13 August).
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases in India has risen to over 34.63 lakh on Saturday, with 76,472 new coronavirus cases and 1,021 deaths reported in the country in the last 24 hours.
Currently, 7,52,424 cases are active and 26,48,998 people have recovered from the disease in India. As many as 62,550 fatalities have been reported in country so far.
