With Record 22,771 New Cases, India's Covid-19 Tally Rises To 6.48 Lakh; Death Toll Increases To 18,655

With a record spike of 22,771 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 6,48,315, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Saturday (4 July).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 2,35,433 are active cases while at least 3,94,227 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from Friday's 18,213 to 18,655, an increase of 442 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 1,92,990 cases, including 8,376 fatalities, and 1,04,687 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 1,02,721 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 94,000-mark with as many as 94,695 cases recorded so far, the third-highest tally in the country. Gujarat has reported the fourth highest tally of 34,600 cases so far.


States with more than 10,000 cases are Uttar Pradesh (25,797), West Bengal (20,488), Telangana (20,462), Karnataka (19,710), Rajasthan (19,052), Andhra Pradesh (16,934), Haryana (16,003), Madhya Pradesh (14,297) and Bihar (10,954).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Assam (9,673), Odisha (8,106), Jammu and Kashmir (8,019), Punjab (5,937), Kerala (4,964), Chhattisgarh (3,065), Uttarakhand (3,048) and Jharkhand (2,695).

According to the Health Ministry, 4,999 cases are being re-assigned to states.
