Within Five Months Of Merger, Vodafone -Idea Announces Around 25 Per Cent Of Pan-India Radio Network Integration

Vodafone-Idea Limited, the merged entity of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular has announced the successful consolidation of around 25 per cent of its pan-India radio network integration, within five months of the merger, the Telecom Talk reports.

In a press statement, Vodafone-Idea said,“customers of both Vodafone and Idea Cellular are able to enjoy a unified network experience on 2G, 3G & 4G, in the service areas of West Bengal, Haryana, HP, Assam, North East, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana (excl. Hyderabad), J&K and MP & Chhattisgarh".

The telecom, in the eight circles mentioned, completed full network consolidation. Further, the company stated that it had completed the full radio network consolidation in Bengaluru. Idea Cellular, with Vodafone’s aid, has launched 4G services to their subscribers in the Kolkata circle.

UK-based Vodafone also needed Idea Cellular’s help to introduce 4G services in circles of Bihar and Jharkhand as well as Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh circles. It was also reported that Vodafone-Idea has re-farmed 10Mhz of the Vodafone’s 4G spectrum in Mumbai to provide better data experience to its customers in the state capital.

In various other circles, the market leader network integrating into a cluster-by-cluster basis and subscribers of both the telecos are slowly moving to an extensive and better network.

The Chief Technology Officer of Vodafone-Idea Limited, Mr Vishant Vora said, “With meticulous pre-merger planning and rigorous post-merger execution, we have ensured that our customers remain confidently connected and enjoy uninterrupted services even as we integrate and optimise our network in a phased manner across circles.

He adds that the company has joined hands with the best global vendors and equipment suppliers to launch new age technologies and ensure an excellent experience to customers while building a "robust future-ready network." Currently, the 4G coverage of the company has grown to more than 750 million on a pan-India basis.
