Woman Claiming To Be Sanjay Gandhi’s Daughter Moves SC Seeking Stay On Release Of ‘Indu Sarkar’

Priya Singh Paul

Priya Singh Paul, the woman who claims to be the biological daughter of late Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi, has moved to the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the release of the Madhur Bhandarkar’s movie 'Indu Sarkar'.

In her petition, Paul told SC that the movie, which is scheduled for release on 28 July, is allegedly full of 'concocted facts' and is 'totally derogatory'. She has also accused the film of maligning the image of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

The apex court, however, has refused to give any date for hearing of the plea.

"You give your memo. We will see to it. We are not giving any date," the bench comprising of Justices Amitava Roy and A M Khanwilkar said.

The plea has challenged the 24 July order of the Bombay High Court dismissing her plea to stay the release of the movie. The Bombay High Court had noted that no acknowledged descendant of Sanjay Gandhi has raised objection to the film.
