‘Cybershikshaa’ For Women: Microsoft Pitches In With Three Year Cybersecurity Course For Women From Weaker Sections

Microsoft will join hands with Data Security Council of India (DSCI) to offer three year courses for women on cybersecurity, Financial Express has reported. The initiative is supported by the ministry of information technology’s Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) programme.
The program Cybershikshaa is aimed at upgrading the skills of women and also to help them stay safe on the internet. The curriculum will be interactive comprising of case studies and hands-on practical projects. The course will be handled by trainers from Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
“Bridging the skill gap in the niche domain of cybersecurity is a national imperative. There has been an increased participation from industry, government and academia to develop cybersecurity skills required for India. This programme embarked upon by the DSCI and Microsoft is aligned with the ministry’s ISEA programme and will not only provide impetus to bridging the skill gap but will also help draw more women into the cybersecurity domain,” Ministry of Electronics and IT, Secretary, Prakash Sawhney told Financial Express.
Close to 1,000 women from under-served communities will be chosen for the programme and offered employment after completion. Graduate women between the ages 20 to 27 will be inducted, and the first phase of the programme will be rolled out from Patna, Mohali, Hyderabad and Noida.
