Prime Minister Modi today said that India aims to eliminate Tuberculosis (TB) from the country by 2025. “Wearing masks, early diagnosis and treatment are also important in its prevention,” he said.
“To keep India healthy, we are working on four main things-prevention of illness and promotion of wellness, healthcare access to all, building health infrastructure and increase in quality and quantity of healthcare professionals, to work in a focused manner,” he said.
“Centre is not only investing in healthcare but making sure that such facilities are made available in remote areas too. Investment in healthcare also focuses on bringing in employment opportunities,” said PM Modi on budget announcements for health sector.
He further said that the budget allocated for the health sector now was extraordinary.
“Today, the world's trust in India's health sector is at a new high. We have to be prepared for the increasing demand for the 'Made in India' vaccines,” the prime minister said.
He also hailed private sector’s role to collaborate not just in the PM Jan Arogya Yojana, but also in setting up public health laboratories under PPP model.
“There can be collaboration with the private sector on National Digital Health Mission, Digital health records, and other cutting edge technologies,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to inaugurate Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at IIT Kharagpur today, and address the 66th Convocation of the IIT Kharagpur via video conferencing.
