Yashwant Sinha Quits BJP, Announces ‘Sanyas’ From Party Politics

Former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has quit the Bharatiya Janata Party and announced ‘sanyas’ from party politics, PTI has reported.
The BJP leader, who emerged as a vocal critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last few years, said he would not join any other political party.
“I am taking ‘sanyas’ from party politics,” he has said, adding that he would launch a strong movement to “save democracy” in the country.
The move comes after Sinha, in February, refused to quit the party.
"Why should I quit the BJP? I had toiled hard during 2004-14 when the UPA was in power. Let the party throw me out if it wants," he had said back then.
Earlier this week, he had written an open letter to BJP MPs asking them to challenge the leadership before the next elections.
Sinha had served as Finance Minister and External Affairs Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He had formed 'Rashtra Manch' on 30 January, saying it will be an apolitical forum to highlight the "anti-people" policies of the Centre.
