Yasin Malik To Face Trial In Jammu Over Killing Of Four IAF Personnel In 1990 After J&K High Court Vacates Stay

Troubles for chief of banned outfit Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Yasin Malik seem to be mounting day after day, as the J&K High Court on Thursday (25 April 2019) cleared the trial of Malik in nearly 30-year-old cases related to gunning down of four Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel in 1990, reports The Economic Times.
Malik will also face trial in the case of the kidnapping of Rubaiya Sayeed in 1989. Said Rubaiya Sayeed was the daughter of former former union minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Two chargesheets were filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in August and September 1990 against Malik before the designated TADA court in Jammu. However, the trial against Malik in the aforementioned cases had been stayed after the same court's instructions in 1995.
Just days ago, Yasin had been sent on a judicial remand till 24 May 2019 in view of a case relating to terror financing and money laundering in the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) by a Delhi court headed by Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Syal on Wednesday (24 April 2019).
The organisation led by him, JKLF was banned by the Government of India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in March 2019.
