Yogi Govt Bans Fee Hike In Schools For Upcoming 2021-22 Academic Session

Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has imposed a state-wide moratorium on school fee hikes across all the boards for the upcoming academic session (2021-22) in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, reports Livemint.
Announcing the decision, UP Deputy Chief Minister (Dy CM) Dinesh Sharma said that many families are affected economically due to the Covid-19 second wave, and schools are physically closed while online classes are going on.
Sharma, who also holds the Secondary Education portfolio added, “Keeping this in mind, the government has taken a balanced decision so that the common man does not have to bear the extra load and also schools could provide salaries to teachers and other staff.”
As a result, schools in the state have been allowed to take fees in accordance with the arrangements they had for the 2019-20 session as the fees were not hiked last year also due to a similar situation during the first wave of COVID-19. Further, the schools which have already hiked fees for the new session would have to adjust the same in future.
It should also be noted that the state government has decided that no schools will be allowed to charge transportation fees as long as they are closed.
