The Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government on Monday (30 March) directly transferred a total of Rs 611 crore to the bank accounts of 27.5 lakh workers in the state under the MNREGA scheme, ANI UP has reported.
This translates to an average transfer of approximately Rs 2,222 per bank account.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also connected with various workers in the state to appraise them about this transfer. As per reports, via this payment the state government cleared all the pending wage dues of the workers till 25 March.
A few days ago Nirmala Sitharaman led Finance Ministry had announced a wage hike for MNREGA workers of Rs 2,000, this is expected to be benefit 5 crore families in the country. Those opting for this scheme get employment from the government for an average of 100 days per year.
