'You Are Abusing The Process Of Law': SC Rejects Ex-BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav's Plea

Former BSF jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav’s plea that challenged the Election Commission’s decision to reject his nomination papers in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections has been rejected by a Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde.
Bahadur had in fact wanted to contest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi on a ticket from the Samajwadi Party. His plea that sought a reversal of the call taken by the poll panel was earlier dismissed by the Allahabad High Court. Furthermore, the apex court rejected Bahadur’s counsel’s appeal to adjourn the hearing and instead reserved the order.
Tej Bahadur had emerged in the news in 2017 for sharing video clips on social media alleging poor quality of food served to the security forces in the frontier areas along the border with Pakistan.
He was later dismissed from service by the Summary Security Force Court at Samba for disobeying the general orders of the force and carrying two mobile phones whilst on operational duty. Bahadur is said to have acted against the standard operating procedure and violated instructions by posting his photographs in uniform on the social media.
