It looks like the wait for Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA’s maiden store in India is still never ending. The store, originally scheduled to open on 19 July will now open on 9 August, nearly two weeks later, reports Mint.
In a statement, IKEA Retail India said that it was postponing the opening as it needed time to live up to the expected quality commitments of its customers and coworkers.
IKEA’s first store in India is located at Hitec City in Hyderabad, Telangana. Featuring an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, it is expected to provide 1,000 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect ones with half of its employees being women.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
