Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while announcing measures to combat the economic disruption brought in by the coronavirus pandemic, said that no minimum balance fee will be charged by the banks till 30 June.
This means that depositors would not be required to maintain any minimum balance in their bank accounts for the next three months until 30 June.
She added that depositors would be able to withdraw cash via their debit cards from any bank ATM without paying any additional charge.
The Finance Minister also announced that her ministry will be ready with an economic package soon and announced a slew of relaxations for various compliance activities. This includes extending the last date to file the GST return for March, April and May to 30 June and
