Zero Tolerance: BJP Sacks Uttarakhand Leader For Alleged Sexual Assault On Party Worker

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday (4 November) removed its Uttarakhand organisation leader over sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by a woman party worker.
The woman had alleged sexual harassment by Uttarakhand BJP general secretary (organisation) Sanjay Kumar six months ago, Times Of India has reported.
"The party leadership has taken cognisance of the entire issue and appropriate action will be taken as per the set procedure,” Uttarakhand BJP president Ajay Bhatt was quoted by PTI.
As per the report, when asked about the allegations against a leader of the organisation, Uttarakhand BJP’s media cell head Devendra Bhasin told that the party is aware of the allegations and is looking into them.
"Whatever I know about the incident is through the newspapers. As the matter involves a general secretary it would not be proper for me to comment on it unless I hear from the leadership," Bhatt had said.
The issue came to limelight when the woman lodged a complaint with the members of the party. The woman had alleged that Kumar assaulted her at the party’s state headquarters at Balbir road in Dehradun. She also alleged that he sent her derogatory messages and duped her by assuring a job.
