Online food delivery and restaurant discovery service provider Zomato has introduced a 26-week parental leave for all employees, Money Control reports. The policy would benefit non-birthing parents in cases like surrogacy, adoption and same-sex partners.
It should be noted that Indian laws mandate a 26-week maternity leave but don't provide any such rule for paternity leave in the country. No other company in India is close to having a similar parental leave policy for both men and women.
Further, Zomato would provide $1,000 per child as an endowment to the new parents as welcoming a new member to the family can be financially straining for a young family.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
