Following Tamil Nadu minister Udayanidhi Stalin's controversial comparison of Sanatana Dharma to diseases like dengue and malaria, there has been a series of comments by political leaders across the country.

In Karnataka, Minister for IT and BT Priyank Kharge, without taking any names, had supported Stalin's comments by stating that "a religion that does not promote equality is as good as a disease".

Following Kharge's comments, yet another minister has joined the bandwagon — this time, it is the state's Home Minister G Parameshwara.

''In the history of world there are many religions. When was Hindu religion founded and who gave birth to Hinduism is still a question mark and has continued to remain a question. Buddhism and Jainism were born in India. Christianity and Islam came from outside. The essence of all these religions means good for mankind,'' Parameshwara has been quoted as saying by Republic.

According to reports, Parameshwara was addressing a Teacher's Day event in his home constituency of Koratagere when he made the controversial remark.

He added that "there is still a question mark on who founded the Hindu Dharma."
