Under-construction Lord Ram statue
Officials have stated that a statue of Lord Ram, standing 51 feet tall, is almost finished in the town of Chandausi, located in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. The unveiling is expected to be carried out by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in February.
The sculpture, under construction at Ramlila Ground in Ram Bagh Dham, will depict the Hindu deity with a bow in one hand while bestowing blessings with the other.
Ashok Kumar Fancy, the president of Ram Bagh Dham Trust, stated that the construction of the statue, which commenced on 31 May 2023, is currently nearing its completion.
“The statue is almost complete, with only the painting work left. It is expected to be ready by February 2025,” he was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
Amit Kumar K S, the secretary of Ram Bagh Dham Trust, stated that the majestic and sacred statue of Lord Ram is set to be the "tallest of its kind in the nation".
He said, “We have written to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, requesting him to inaugurate the statue, and we hope the event will take place soon.”
Vice president of the Ramlila Parishad at Ram Bagh Dham, Amit Kumar Appu, said, “When the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya began, we thought of establishing the tallest statue of Lord Ram here in Chandausi’s Ram Bagh Dham.”
So far, the project has incurred an approximate cost of Rs 25 lakh, which includes the construction of a parikrama path around the statue. This path enables devotees to walk around and pay homage to the statue, he further explained.
Once finished, the statue is anticipated to enhance Chandausi's standing as a spiritual center. Trust members have even begun to refer to the town as a "Mini Vrindavan".
