Avadh Ojha, a popular UPSC coaching teacher and motivational speaker, is all set to contest the 2025 Delhi assembly election after joining the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday (3 December).

After joining the party, Ojha thanked Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. Ojha has a teaching experience of over two decades and is known for his unique style. He also has a large following on social media platforms.

Ojha hails from Gonda in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and with his induction, the party aims to get Purvanchali (east UP) votes as they live in the capital in large numbers. He is a Brahmin by caste.

Ojha is a well-known figure, particularly among UPSC aspirants, which makes him fit to woo youth. He has gained recognition for his ability to simplify complex subjects like History, Geography, and Current Affairs.

Ojha's reach goes far beyond traditional classrooms. His YouTube channel, Ray Avadh Ojha, boasts over 9 lakh subscribers and features 800 educational and motivational videos.

However, earlier too, AAP had deposits confiscated when it gave tickets to people based on their social media following. It remains to be seen whether Ojha will be able to convert his following into votes.

In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Ojha revealed that he had been in discussions with the BJP, Congress, and BSP about a potential political role. He also shared his aspirations to form his own political party by 2028.

Ojha's decision to join the AAP comes after the party's efforts to recruit at least six former MLAs from rival parties, including ex-BJP MLA Anil Jha and former Congress MLA Somesh Shaukeen.

The AAP has positioned Jha as a Purvanchali leader and Shaukeen as a representative of Delhi's rural areas, including them in its initial list of 11 candidates for the upcoming Delhi elections.
