Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its first list of candidates for Delhi assembly elections on Thursday (21 November) months before the anticipated dates of polls.

11 candidates have been named in the first list. None of them are incumbent members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) despite AAP having five of these seats.

Interestingly, two former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, who unsuccessfully contested the 2020 elections on BJP tickets have been fielded in Kirari and Chhatarpur.

Another interesting fact is that three AAP candidates, who lost in 2020, have been fielded again. They are Ram Singh Tanwar in Badarpur, Sarita Singh in Rohtas Nagar and Deepak Singla in Vishwas Nagar.

Other candidates in this list are Sumesh Shokeen, fielded from Matiala, Veer Singh Dhingan from Seemapuri, Gaurav Sharma from Ghonda and Manoj Tyagi from Karawal Nagar.

The lone Muslim candidate in this list is Chaudhry Zubair Ahmad, who has been fielded from Seelampur. He joined the AAP along with his wife last month only.
