After three Independent MLAs withdrew support from the BJP government in Haryana, Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) chief Dushyant Chautala urged Chief Minister Nayab Saini to resign on "moral grounds."

Claiming that the BJP government has lost the majority, former Deputy CM Chautala extended support to the Leader of the Opposition from Congress, Bhupinder Singh Hooda for "toppling" the government.

"If steps are taken to topple the government during elections, then we will fully consider extending external support. Congress needs to decide if it will take any action," Chautala said in a press conference.

He emphasised that JJP MLAs cannot violate the whip while being in the party and informed that the party has issued notice to three MLAs for sharing the stage with other parties.

Meanwhile, Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan has said that they will demand the imposition of the President's Rule and the holding of fresh elections and also urged the JJP to do the same.

The Independent MLAs, Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Gollen, and Dharampal Gonder, earlier declared their decision to support the Congress during the elections.

The current strength of the Haryana Assembly is 88 out of 90 members, with the BJP holding 40 seats. The Congress had won 31 and the JJP 10seats in the 2019 Assembly elections.
