MOVES ARE afoot to host French President Emmanuel Macron in Jaipur and New Delhi next week, when he visits India as the Chief Guest for the 75th Republic Day celebrations.
Preparations are in full swing as India gears up to host French President Emmanuel Macron in Jaipur and New Delhi next week.
The visit, which marks a significant diplomatic event, coincides with India's 75th Republic Day celebrations, where President Macron will be the Chief Guest.
Scheduled to arrive on 25 January for a two-day visit, President Macron'is likely to be accompanied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a roadshow in Jaipur soon after his arrival.
In Jaipur, the French President will be felicitated at various iconic forts and palaces.
Prime Minister Modi is also expected to host President Macron for a Rajasthani-style meal on 25 January.
The Jaipur leg of President Macron's visit will showcase the “colours of India”, reminiscent of the visit by then US President Bill Clinton in March 2000.
Both leaders are expected to reach Delhi on the night of 25 January, just in time for the Republic Day parade the next day.
This will be the sixth time that a French leader will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations.
Earlier last year, PM Modi was the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade in Paris on 14 July 2023. This was followed by Macron’s visit to India for the G20 Summit on 8-9 September last year.
