Ajit Pawar Urges Immediate Repairs Of Pune-Nashik And Nashik-Mumbai Highways Amid Rising Accidents

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has written to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, demanding urgent repairs to the Pune-Nashik and Nashik-Mumbai National Highways, citing a worrying increase in accidents and damage to vehicles caused by deteriorating road conditions.
In his letter, Pawar highlighted that the Pune-Nashik highway is vital for industrial, commercial, and passenger transport but is now plagued with deep potholes.
Due to these potholes, vehicles are being damaged on a large scale and the number of accidents has also increased. The common citizens are being hit hard in terms of time, fuel and mental anguish, he noted.
He further criticised the state of the Nashik-Mumbai highway, pointing to dangerous diversions, poor road surfaces, and incomplete bridge works, particularly in the Kasara Ghat and Igatpuri stretches.
Pawar described the current state as a matter of danger to traffic, adding that serious accidents are also happening on this route.
He has urged that both highways be thoroughly inspected and swift repairs initiated to enhance safety and ease the burden on commuters.
Pawar expressed confidence in the efficiency and contribution of Gadkari to infrastructure development and expected the repair of both these highways to be completed promptly through him.
As traffic volumes surge and monsoon rains approach, the state government hopes for immediate intervention to prevent further mishaps on these critical routes.
