Allahabad High Court Rejects Plea By Muslim Side In Sambhal Mosque Case; Trial To Continue, Survey Report To Be Read Out

On Monday (19 May), the Allahabad High Court affirmed a trial court's decision to carry out a survey of the disputed Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh, according to a report by news agency PTI.

The request from the Muslim faction to suspend the trial court's proceedings was denied, with the high court finding "no issues with the trial court order" in the current conflict between the Jama Masjid and the Harihar Mandir in the district, according to ANI.

The management committee of the Sambhal mosque has submitted a civil revision petition with the aim of halting the current trial court proceedings. This is in relation to an original suit that is still pending in the district court of Sambhal.

The development was confirmed by senior advocate Hari Shankar Jain, stating, "The high court rejected ​​the Muslim side's revision and said that the survey was correct. Whatever survey was done, its report will be read out and made part of the record."

Another advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain said that the court order proves all those wrong who questioned the civil court order. He affirmed that during the surveys on 19 and 24 November, proper procedures were followed and since the high court has vacated the stay order, trials will continue in the Sambhal mosque case.
