Amid Tensions With Pakistan Over Pahalgam Terror Attack, Indian Air Force Chief A P Singh Meets PM Modi

Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan over the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh on Sunday (4 May) met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NDTV reported.

IAF chief Singh’s meeting with the Prime Minister came less than a day after a separate meeting between PM Modi and Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.

Earlier on 30 April, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had met PM Modi.

Though no official statement was issued post the meeting, it is being seen as part of continuing discussions on India’s possible response to the 22 April terror attack, in which Pakistan-linked terrorists killed over 26 people, mostly tourists, in J&K's Pahalgam.

This attack, one of the deadliest against civilians in Kashmir in recent times, has sparked widespread demands for retaliatory action against Pakistan, which India accuses of providing support to terror groups to carry out cross-border attacks.

At a high-level meeting earlier this week, Prime Minister Modi instructed top defence leadership that India’s armed forces have “complete operational freedom” to decide the time, targets and mode of the country's response to the deadly terror attack.

That meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and all three service chiefs.
